Money Is Innocent!

Money is innocent,

He is loyal to his owner,

Whether he is lovely or abhorrent,

It depends wholly on the user.

If you spend money the right way,

He will sparkle like diamond,

If you use money the wrong way,

He will turn into your demon.

Don’t be shy about your love to money,

Those who are not interested still sleeping in cradle,

Don’t be hypocritical about your desire to money,

Those who hate him may be staying in mental hospital.

Never believe making money the fast track,

It is likely a dangerous trickery,

It’s like filling rice in a torn sack,

Tomorrow the sack will turn empty.

Making money needs perseverance,

It is like digging a well,

Once you reach your terminus,

It will bring you unstoppable wealth.

Making money is not a fault,

As long as not against the law,

To the poor he means a lot,

The rich will always ask for more.

Saving a lot of money needs time,

Spending a lot of money can be overnight,

If you prefer to stay in prime,

Start saving today is surely right.

Spend only money in your pocket,

To ensure you don’t overspend,

Spend others’ money makes you in debt,

You will end up showing your lament.

If you believe money is wonderful,

He will approach you whenever you need,

If you think money is sinful,

He will stay away from you indeed.

So, utter loudly “Money, Money, Money”

“You are my Honey, Honey, Honey!”

The creation of this poem was inspired by a few money-related stories that happened around me. I won’t be sharing all the stories in this blog, but I will only highlight two of them which I think are more thought-provoking.

I still remember I participated in an after-dinner conversation with a group of friends. During the conversation, one of my friends, Jane, shared about her personal experience of conducting an interview in the company. For your information, Jane is holding a high position in her company. So she will normally serve as an interviewer whenever there is any job interview. Jane described to us, “This morning, I interviewed a guy. When I asked him why did he choose to come to our company, he replied me with a reason which made me directly banned him from the interview. Can you guess what did he say? He told me he chose our company because the salary offered in our company is higher than the market price.” After listening to Jane’s narration, I was pondering, “What’s wrong with this particular reason?  Is ‘loving money’ a fault?” I was thinking but without expressing my thought to her, “If you don’t love money, then you better volunteer yourself to work for the company for free. Is that any scientific fact showing that people who love money will have substandard working performance? Is that any formula displaying that people who don’t care about money will perform better at work? I feel it is rather ridiculous to prohibit that person from interview simply because of this reason.

Let me share with you another short story. I have a friend who is a regular customer of a direct-selling company that sells nutritional food and household products. Normally, if you want to purchase a product from a direct-selling company, you need to be member in order to buy the product in a cheaper price, commonly known as member price. If you are not a member of the company, you will need to pay a slightly higher price. One day, I asked for my friend’s help to purchase a car wash shampoo from that direct-selling company. When he came to pass me the product, then I asked him about the price. He told me, “Don’t worry, I don’t earn a single cent from you. I sell you with the member price.” Subsequently I replied, “I never worry you will earn my money, what’s wrong to earn some retail profit from me, since you are providing me a service? Then he answered, “I am worrying that you will feel unhappy if I earn a profit from you.” In fact, I simply treat it as a business transaction.

From these two simple stories, they reflect a general fact. A lot of people scare to disclose their real thought about money. They may feel shy to unveil their burning desire on money. What is the fault of making a profit from someone? As long as the way we use to make the profit is not violating the law.

My real concept about money was depicted in the poem above -‘Money Is Innocent’, hope you like it! Be brave to admit that ‘We All Love Money’!
